Web Software Development: Where Does Open Source Fit?
Hear from four diverse web-based companies
Time spent searching for products and services online has increased exponentially, and spending online is increasing by 15%/year. Better tools for turning the glut of data into information are key to selling products and services online. This month we are pleased to present an evening with four ventures, Calpont (Texas), Surflocal (Greeley), Chillico Enterprises (Fort Collins), and Tempered, LLC. (Fort Collins).
Please come prepared to participate, and join us in helping these ventures develop profitable strategies in pursuit of better connectivity and information access. Ample time will be provided for networking.
The event will be held in Fort Collins, starting at 5:45 pm on Monday November 16th, 2009.

Calpont (Texas), is a software company based in Frisco, Texas. We’re passionate about making powerful analytic database software for business intelligence, reporting, and read-intensive applications. The product, InfiniDB Community Edition, provides a scale-up analytics database engine . Enabled via MySQLTM and purpose-built for an analytical workload with column-oriented technology at its core, the multi-threaded capabilities of InfiniDB Community Edition fully encompass query, transactional support and bulk load operations.
Calpont's InfiniDB is at an Alpha state of completeness. Calpont needs potential customer to further evaluate the completeness and robustness of the product and knowledge of potential partner (technology, integrator or VAR) interest. Those interested in joining and strengthening the online community are invited to join the community at www.infinidb.org

Chillico Enterprises (Fort Collins) identified that individuals and service companies have trouble using the internet and arranging appointments in security and privacy. iAppointmentbook.com makes it easy for customers to reserve appointment with a service company’s schedule online. Customization is planned through consulting.
Chillico is reaching out to those with web base services companies for advice and to investors or angels to get in on the ground floor with skills to round out the project.

Tempered, LLC (Fort Collins) is developing Tr.im, an enterprise grade, URL shortening service that provides individual logins and full, detailed statistics on URL click tracking. Tr.im was recently ranked within the top 5000 websites in the world, with almost 4000 other websites linking to it. The code source for Tr.im has recently been open-sourced under the MIT license.
The Tempered Group has received a verbal agreement and is currently negotiating a written agreement for full control of tr.im. The Tempered Group will develop an open source community project for the tr.im code at http://opentrim.org where we will continue the development of the tr.im code.
The Tempered group has also entered into an agreement with Hero Applications http://heroapps.com to develop a commercial release of Tr.im intended to be used by enterprise customers inside of their own data-center, giving them all the power and flexibility of the Tr.im service, within and under their own control.
Established in April 2008, NCEN has about 750 members, representing all facets of business and industry. We have become the premier gathering place for new and seasoned entrepreneurs.
